🇮🇸 Iceland is adopting the X-Road data exchange system. It has joined Estonia and Finland as a member of the Nordic Institute for Interoperability Solutions. Hopefully, someone somewhere is monitoring any trade and quality of life impact of countries operating the same systems.
🇨🇦 Canada is also working on some sort of national data exchange system called the Canadian Digital Exchange platform. The tender notice was published back in November.
🇺🇸 18F and the Office for Products & Platforms have been working together on an approach for ‘data federation’. This looks like the US Federal government gearing up for improving data usage through API’s available beyond organisational boundaries. Joining up APIs vs adopting a data exchange system feels like an emerging policy choice for governments.
